This year, Parami University marks a significant milestone—its 8th anniversary! Since its founding in 2017 as the Parami Institute of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Parami has been on a mission to empower young leaders and changemakers through innovative and accessible education. Today, Parami community members joined together to celebrate Parami's 8th anniversary virtually.
Parami has grown over the past eight years, from launching the flagship Parami Leadership Program to offering cutting-edge online undergraduate programs. The journey has been one of resilience, adaptability, and vision: transitioning to online education in 2021.
Some of Parami’s milestones and impacts since 2017 are as follows:
In 2017, Parami launched our flagship program, the Parami Leadership Program, which provides liberal arts education to Myanmar youths from all walks of life.
In 2020, Parami planned to establish a residential college in Hmawbi, Myanmar.
In 2021, Parami transitioned to online education, offering certificate courses in different disciplines and launching a thought leadership program such as the Massive Open Online Course in Burmese Language (MOOC).
In 2022, Parami received a degree-granting authority license from the Higher Education Licensure Commission (HELC) in Washington, D.C., to offer online undergraduate programs. Partnering with Grow with Google, Parami has started providing continuing education opportunities to students and working professionals with nine Google Career Certificate Programs free of charge.
In 2023, Parami partnered with Bard College, New York, to offer dual degrees to Parami undergraduate students.
In 2024, Parami successfully organized the inaugural Associate Degree Commencement Ceremony in early June in Chaing Mai, Thailand. Partnering with DataCamp Donates. Parami provides educational opportunities to individuals who aspire to advance their careers in data science, AI, statistics, and machine learning. Supported by the USAID Diversity and Inclusion Scholarship Program (DISP), Parami University and Bard College launched the Higher Education Access Program (HEAP) for students who have faced challenges in completing high school or who need to build the necessary skills to thrive in international university degree programs.
As this anniversary is celebrated, reflection turns to the impact made over the years. Hundreds of students from diverse backgrounds have gained access to transformative learning opportunities, equipping them to address complex global challenges. In 2024, the institution proudly marks the graduation of its first cohort of dual associate degree program students—a testament to the aspirations and dedication of its community.
